About our name:
Mimikej is the Mi’kmaw word for butterfly, representing transformation, resilience, hope, and growth. Butterfly was the Mi’kmaw name of Natalie Dawn Clifford, a proud member of Millbrook First Nation whose life and career advanced justice, sovereignty, and dignity for Indigenous peoples, particularly within Mi’kmaw communities across Atlantic Canada. Mimikej Integrated Services was named in her honour and reflects her legacy of advocacy, relationship-building, and meaningful systems change.
