From climate-resilient builds to culturally responsive design, Citizen Design Build pairs building expertise with respect for Indigenous culture and knowledge. We align our operational pace with the time required for meaningful engagement, ensuring that mutual respect and trust dictate the speed of our collaboration, and we use construction as a way to strengthen communities and build lasting partnerships with the Nations where we live and work.
We are committed to long-term partnerships with a goal to develop capacity building in-nation. Historically, this has meant providing apprenticeship training through to full Red Seal certification. Moving forward, our ultimate goal is to help each Nation build a complete construction capability of its own — not only carpenters, but administrators, project managers, and designers who live in the community — so that schools, housing, and the projects behind a Nation’s own economic goals can be planned, built, and managed by its own people.
