Driftwood Communications Ltd. is a privately held telecommunications infrastructure company founded in 1996 and headquartered in Saanichton, British Columbia. For nearly three decades we have designed, built, and maintained fibre and outside-plant networks across British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, delivering for national and regional carriers, utilities, provincial and federal agencies, and rural and Indigenous communities. With field crews, senior personnel, and operational resources located across Western Canada, including in and around the Kamloops area, we provide responsive, locally supported service across a broad geographic footprint.
We are a turnkey contractor, which for The City of Kamloops, means a single point of accountability from first design through to final as-built. Our in-house capability covers network design and engineering, permitting and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), civil construction underground and aerial, fibre placement and splicing, testing and acceptance, and GIS-based documentation.
Our crews hold BC Hydro work-clearance certification and we operate a dedicated fleet of placing trucks, bucket trucks, splicing trucks, cable trailers, and generators across our Western Canadian footprint.
Two elements of our history speak directly to this project. We are a prime contractor for Rogers across Western Canada, delivering rural FTTx builds and the long-haul routes that backhaul them. We also bring structured program controls from large multi-site builds including the Connected Coast initiative, where weekly reporting, GIS documentation, and disciplined close-out were core requirements on every site.
That continuity, combined with the technical capability and program discipline outlined above, is what we bring to The City of Kamloops Network Support Services project: a contractor who has done this kind of work before, knows how to deliver it well, and will still be here long after the last splice is tested.
