Success after Camp

Analyzing Economic and Social Outcomes among Outland Youth Employment Program Participants

CCAB conducted a research project analyzing Outland’s summer camps for Indigenous youth in northern Ontario, called Outland Youth Employment Program (OYEP). This comprehensive camp focuses on natural resources training while providing youth with opportunities to obtain high school credits and explore career pathways in the natural resources industry.

From the research, we found that overall, OYEP participants are more likely to be employed, earn a higher income, and be more educated than their Indigenous counterparts in northern Ontario. These positive outcomes are directly linked with participation in the summer camp. The CCAB strongly supports OYEP and encourages its expansions to regions across the country.
