About 0865894 B.C. LTD. dba AgriTech North

AgriTech North is an Indigenous-led, deep-tech venture commercializing a rugged-climate controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) platform built for the most difficult food security conditions in Canada, with relevance to international markets. The technologies were developed and benchmarked in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities, where food insecurity, rugged climate exposure, supply-chain fragility, energy costs, and skilled-labour scarcity combine to make conventional year-round production economically difficult.

By validating commercial viability in these environments, while benchmarking produce sales at urban market rates rather than food-insecure rates, AgriTech North has established a performance and economics baseline in one of the most difficult deployment contexts. The result is a platform that can deliver even stronger economics in larger-scale, commercial, and urban operations where logistics, labour access, and service networks are more favourable.

The company’s three core patented technologies include:

  • Multi-layer inflated greenhouse envelope achieving 70% reduced winter heat loss versus single-pane glass during academic studies, while significantly extending replacement intervals, lowering operating costs, and being capital cost-competitive.
  • Hydronic Microclimate Control System (HMCS), a hydrocarbon-refrigerant-free architecture with validated energy savings of 41-71%, reduced maintenance complexity with Right to Repair, and applicability across agricultural, commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
  • Direct Air Capture (DAC) of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) for on-site use, designed to support sealed, year-round growing environments, generating carbon credits, reducing supplementation logistics, and improving yield economics in rugged climates.

Together, these technologies address the core barriers that have prevented sustainable year-round growing: thermal envelope penalties, fragmented Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Dehumidification (HVAC-D) systems, CO2 logistics, energy intensity, maintenance risk, and limited access to specialized trades. AgriTech North’s platform was designed specifically in response to these constraints and are thermodynamically and economically linked as these mission-critical systems leave little tolerance for fragile or service-intensive systems.

AgriTech North’s traction is reinforced by third-party validation, government-backed support, operating revenue, and growing commercialization demand. The Living Lab portion of the business already reports recurring B2B supply contracts and B2C subscriptions, approximately $300K in annualized run-rate revenue, 95+ SME suppliers, and a 10,000-square-foot production and processing facility as an active agri-food platform, while the technology commercialization pathway includes early adopters, letters of intent, and a growing book of prospective customers across Indigenous community and commercial applications. Visibility from awards such as Bears’ Lair, together with interest from technical and research partners further supports market credibility.
