About Indigenous Water Partnership

The Indigenous Water Partnership provides culturally adapted water treatment engineering services to First Nations and Inuit communities.

Our Mission is to support Indigenous Nations’ sovereignty in Canada by providing relevant technical support, ensuring access to safe drinking water and effective sanitation systems, and fostering community ownership of water treatment infrastructure.

If desired, the Partnership can act as “Owner’s Engineer” to Chief/Council/Public Works in managing water treatment projects in First Nations/Inuit communities. An Owner’s Engineer defends and asserts a Client’s particular needs vis-à-vis an Infrastructure project. IWP staff get to know each community, their needs and limitations, and make the right infrastructure happen. Partnerships between IWP and other existing organisations means not reinventing the wheel. Decades of experience in the industry means that we are useful allies. Specifically, co-director Norine Saddleback Littlechild is a Plains Cree Knowledge-Holder and Grandmother, and co-director Tyler Ball is a water treatment engineer certified in Ontario and Quebec. Norine has vast experience with applying protocol and ceremony to water management, and Tyler has over 20 years’ experience designing and managing water treatment projects for municipal, mining and industrial clients.

The Partnership is registered as a non-profit and has no interest in selling equipment.
