Description<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Housing plays a central role in Canada\u2019s economy, contributing approximately $143 billion to Canada\u2019s GDP and supporting over 1.2 <\/strong>million jobs. At the household level, real estate often represents the largest portion of household wealth, and in 2024 alone, rising <\/strong>housing values added approximately $213 billion to Canadian household net worth. These figures highlight how housing is a key <\/strong>driver of financial well-being and intergenerational wealth transfer in Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For Indigenous Peoples, however, housing and land are not merely economic assets. They represent home, identity, community, and <\/strong>an ongoing relationship to the land. This webinar does not seek to oppose Indigenous perspectives on land with market-based views <\/strong>that focus solely on property value. Rather, its purpose is to provide Indigenous entrepreneurs and individuals with a practical <\/strong>understanding of how Canadian tax rules apply to housing and land, and how those rules can create real and tangible impacts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Review the eligibility criteria and key considerations<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Discuss how section 87 of the Indian Act may further refine the tax treatment of housing and land<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abdoulaye Bangoura<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Abdoulaye is a CPA candidate currently working in the financial services industry with a strong interest in accounting, finance, and capital markets. He is particularly interested in tax planning, wealth strategy, and how financial knowledge can support long-term capital preservation and value creation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He will be contributing to a CCIB webinar discussing the Principal Residence Exemption (PRE) and its role as a tool for capital preservation and financial planning for homeowners.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abdoulaye also believes strongly in the power of financial education to empower individuals and strengthen communities by improving financial literacy and informed decision-making.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Outside of his professional interests, he enjoys reading, going to the gym, and following football as a passionate supporter of Liverpool FC. He will be contributing to the CCIB webinar on the Principal Residence Exemption (PRE), bringing a perspective on taxation and planning for homeowners. He is passionate about how financial education can empower individuals and create positive impact within communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n
